Description

A carved alabaster sphere — suspended from a brass ceiling canopy by three linked chains — glows like a warm planet when lit. The natural copper finish of the chain and canopy reads as aged gold against the stone’s cream-white surface, while the G9 LEDs inside the sphere illuminate the alabaster’s amber veining and cloud-like mineral banding from within. Two sizes: a bedside or reading-nook scale (Φ20 cm sphere), and a statement dining or entryway scale (Φ35 cm sphere). Hardwired.

Spanish Alabaster — formed by nature, unique to each piece

Each sphere is carved from solid Spanish alabaster — a translucent sedimentary gypsum stone. The vein pattern, amber mineral banding, color depth, and degree of translucency differ from sphere to sphere. The photograph shows a representative example. Your pendant’s alabaster sphere will carry its own singular geological character.

Alabaster naturally contains fine fissures, tonal gradients, and subtle surface texture formed during geological development. These are authentic characteristics of genuine stone, not defects. The stone’s inner amber veining and cloud banding are revealed in their full beauty when the sphere is lit from within.

Hardwired — licensed electrician recommended

This pendant connects to your ceiling junction box and wires into your home’s electrical supply. We recommend a licensed electrician for installation — estimated 20–30 minutes per fixture. The drop height shown is the chain-to-sphere length; overall ceiling-to-sphere distance depends on your ceiling height and whether an extension rod or longer chain is needed.

Installation Notes

• Hardwired ceiling pendant — a licensed electrician is recommended for installation.
• Turn off power at the breaker before opening the ceiling junction box. Verify with a voltage tester before handling wires.
• Connect line (black/live) to line, neutral (white) to neutral, and ground to the green or bare copper wire from the box.
• Secure the round brass canopy to the junction box with the supplied hardware. Hang the three chains and check that the sphere hangs level.
• Install G9 LED bulbs (not included) before closing the sphere. Warm white 2700–3000K is recommended.
• The drop height can be adjusted by shortening or extending the chains — contact us if a longer chain is needed.
• For indoor use only. Not suitable for bathrooms or damp locations.

Frequently Asked QuestionsWhich size should I choose?

The Small (Φ20 cm sphere) is best for intimate spaces — a bedside pendant, a reading nook, a small hallway. It produces soft ambient light from one G9 LED. The Large (Φ35 cm sphere) has genuine presence above a dining table or in an entryway with three G9 LEDs producing significantly more output. As a guideline: if you’re hanging it over a table 80–100 cm wide, the Large works well; for narrower or lower spaces, the Small is more proportionate.

Can the chain length be adjusted?

The standard chain length gives the drop heights listed (H20 cm for Small, H35 cm for Large). Chains can be shortened during installation by removing links. If you need a longer drop — for example, a high-ceiling dining room where you want the sphere lower — contact us before ordering and we can supply an extended chain.

Will my sphere look exactly like the photo?

The sphere form, chain hardware, and canopy will match the photo. The alabaster’s veining, amber mineral banding, translucency, and color depth will differ, because each block of stone is unique. The photograph shows a sphere with a characteristic warm amber tone and prominent cloud-like banding — your sphere will share the same overall warmth but carry its own geological pattern.

Do I need an electrician?

Yes, a licensed electrician is recommended. This pendant is hardwired — it connects to your ceiling junction box and wires into your home’s electrical supply. The job is straightforward for an experienced electrician (20–30 minutes), but it requires turning off the breaker, verifying the line is dead, and making proper line-neutral-ground connections.

What G9 bulbs should I use?

G9 LED capsule bulbs, warm white 2700–3000K. The warm tone enhances the alabaster’s natural amber-cream veining and creates the characteristic golden glow through the stone. Avoid halogen G9 bulbs — they run significantly hotter and are less efficient. G9 LEDs are widely available from lighting retailers.
