Description

Volcanic Glow Wall Sconce — travertine cylinder, pore constellation, walnut & black arm.

A cylindrical shade of highly porous yellow travertine — its surface craggy, fossil-textured, and alive with natural voids — suspended from a curved matte black arm that mounts on a dark walnut disc. When the lamp is off, the travertine reads as a sculptural stone cylinder, its raw volcanic character visible in the surface pockmarks and mineral inclusions. When the lamp is on, the hundreds of natural pores glow from within as warm amber pinpoints — a constellation of light through stone that no manufactured material can replicate. The pore glow is the sconce’s defining phenomenon, and the reason it belongs on a gallery wall as much as a living room.

✨ The pore glow is the lamp — turn it on to see what it really is

When lit, the natural voids in the travertine cylinder glow as warm amber spots — dozens of them, distributed across the surface in a pattern unique to each piece. The effect is deliberately theatrical: the stone becomes a glowing constellation, warm amber light escaping through centuries-old geological pores. This is the lamp’s primary visual character. Product photographs only show a fraction of the real experience.

Natural travertine — pore pattern is unique to every piece

Yellow travertine is a sedimentary limestone formed over millennia. The size, density, and distribution of natural pores differ between every piece — your sconce will have its own constellation of light, different from the display images and from every other lamp. This is inherent to natural stone. It is not a defect.

Bulb & Light Source

E26 (US/CA) or E27 (EU/AU) — bulb not included

A warm-white LED at 2700–3000 K is strongly recommended — the warm amber tone amplifies the pore glow effect, making the natural voids in the travertine glow more richly and warmly. A candle-tip or small globe E26/E27 LED at 4–6W is appropriate for the compact ∅ 13 cm cylinder. The pore glow effect is more dramatic with a warm bulb — cool white (4000K+) produces the pattern but with a cooler, less atmospheric quality.

Pair two sconces for a corridor or beside a bed

Two Volcanic Glow sconces at matching heights on either side of a bed, mirror, or corridor create a warm, symmetrical installation — each stone’s unique pore constellation ensures no two lamps look identical, even in a pair.

Frequently Asked QuestionsThe stone has amber glowing spots when the lamp is on — is this a defect?

No — the glowing pores are the defining feature of this lamp and are entirely intentional. Travertine is formed with natural voids throughout its structure. Where the cylindrical stone wall is thinnest at these voids, warm light escapes as amber pinpoints. Each stone has its own unique pore distribution, so the constellation of light is singular to your piece. This is not structural damage and is not a quality issue. It is the reason this sconce exists.

Will my sconce look like the product photos?

The form — the cylindrical travertine shade, walnut disc, matte black arm — will match. The pore pattern, surface texture, amber tonal variation, and fossil inclusions of the stone will differ, as every block of natural travertine is geologically unique. The photographs show representative examples. Your sconce will have its own character.

Can I use a wall switch and a pull chain at the same time?

Yes — the sconce has both options. The hardwired connection is controlled by your wall switch as the primary circuit control. The pull chain on the shade provides a secondary in-lamp on/off control. Both can be used independently: the wall switch cuts power to the lamp entirely; the pull chain switches the lamp on or off within that powered circuit. For bedside use, the pull chain is often more convenient than reaching a wall switch.

Is the Volcanic Glow Sconce certified for North America and Europe?

Yes. It holds certifications compatible with North America, Saudi Arabia, Europe, and Australia and operates on AC 110–240V worldwide.
